OpenSpace is a celebration of life and its challenges. We help make life a celebration, specially for those whom such celebration seems distant and human rights remains a dream.
Work is an integral part of celebration when no one is an extra and all are valued. In some celebrations some are more prominent, but within the cycle, everyone comes to the centre—be it gods or people, children, women or men. It has space for each person to utilise and express their talents, and be acknowledged. It even has space enough to remain unseen.

Karnataka is among the top states in the number of atrocities against SCs and STs. According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) statistics, Karnataka ranks sixth in the country in the number of crimes against SCs and eighth in crimes against STs—though by population, Karnataka ranks ninth in the country. This means that there is a higher incidence of crimes against SCs and STs in the state than the nation.
Of the 30 districts in the state, 15 are declared ‘atrocity prone’ by the state government.

The book is co-authored by over 30 practitioners, intellectuals and researchers.
*Four golden rules for writing effective RTI Applications*
Dear fellow Activists,
We often sit down to draft an RTI application in an angry and unrealistic mood. When we write RTI applications, our focus should be on getting information. Instead, we are thinking about stopping some wrongdoings, getting some officials and corrupt contractors penalized, making the authorities “answerable” for negligence etc, etc. At such times, we fail to think clearly about the items of information that we need.

On 26th January 1950, we are going to enter into a life of contradictions. In politics, we will have equality and in social and economic structure, continue to deny the principle of one man one value.
